Ultra courses work completely differently from the current course view.   As such, some features work completely differently, and some may be not present.

Some advantages of Ultra courses include:

  • Better performance on mobile devices
  • Searchable gradebook
  • More consistent interface
  • Working peer review
  • Ongoing development
  • Detailed analytics

Currently, the following tools are not available on Ultra courses:

  • Blogs
  • Portfolio Assignments
  • External tools that rely on older technologies (replacements are coming soon for these, as they're being phased out of original courses as well):
    • Pearson MyLabs/Mastering

Basic Organization

All Ultra courses are organized the same way.  The basic setup is NOT editable.

At the top, you see the different tools that are available for you to access in your courses.

These are NOT editable, but they allow you to access your course calendar, discussion board, gradebook, internal Blackboard messages and the new analytics tools.

The right side contains tools for dealing with users in the course, joining the Collaborate course room, using announcements, or using other linkable tools.  This area is NOT editable.

The middle of the page contains the course content.  This is the only area that you can edit.  More information about this will be found in the other articles.
