Google Docs is a great tool for authoring papers or other documents, but by default it doesn't save in a format that can be uploaded to Scholar or other tools. However, it's easy to download Docs as PDF or Word files.
To do so, go to the File menu and choose Download. You'll see a list of file types that you can download. For documents that won't need editing post-download, we recommend PDF, as it preserves formatting better.
The file will be saved to your downloads and can be uploaded to Scholar or any other tool.
