Getting a License Key

First, fill out the SPSS Authorized License Request.  You must be logged in with your CNU account to fill out the form.  If you’re installing SPSS from the links in this article, choose 25 for your version number.

Once you do that, you’ll receive an e-mail with your license number.  You’ll need that later in the process.

Getting SPSS

To download SPSS, go to https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzEfgZnUUKKlWG9RbHlZZUMxNHc.  If you’re already signed in to CNU Connect, you’ll be taken directly to the download link.  If not, you’ll see the Google sign-in page. Sign in with your CNU e-mail and password.

Either way, you’ll then see the download link.  Click on the Download button to download the file.

As the SPSS installer is a large file, you’ll get a warning that Google Drive is unable to scan the file for viruses.  Since this is a trusted CNU drive, click “Download anyway” and the file will download.

Installing SPSS

Navigate to where you downloaded the file and click SPSS_Statistics_25_win64.exe. If you aren’t already logged in as an administrator, you’ll be prompted to enter an administrator’s credentials.

The installer will start.  Click Next.

You’ll be presented with a license agreement.  Accept the agreement and click Next.

You’ll be asked if you want to install SPSS Statistics Essentials for Python.  Click yes or no and click Next. If you don’t know what Python is, you can click no.

If you choose to install Python, you’ll have to accept two more license agreements and click Next.

Either way, you’ll be asked where to install SPSS.  Unless you have a reason to install it somewhere other than the default, click Next.

Then, click Install to begin the installation.

The install will start.  It will take a few minutes.

When it completes, you’ll be given the option to start the SPSS License Authorization Wizard. Make sure the box is checked and click Finish.

The License Authorization Wizard will start.  Choose “Authorized user license” and click Next.

On the next screen, enter the license code you received in the box and click Next.

You’ll see a message that your license has been applied.  Click Next, then Fiinish.

Your SPSS license is valid for the remainder of the academic year.  You’ll have to request a new code from the form and re-run the License Authorization Wizard each year.
